How to tell if an email is an AI-made scam

You will learn the warning signs of a scam email, even a polished one.

Scams used to be easy to spot. They had bad spelling and odd words. Now AI can write clean, smooth emails. So a tidy email is not proof it is safe.

Look at what the email wants from you. Real companies do not rush you. They do not ask for your password by email. A scam pushes you to act fast or feel scared.

Check who sent it. Hover over the name to see the real email address. If it looks odd, do not trust it. When in doubt, do not click anything.

You can paste a worrying email into ChatGPT and ask if it looks like a scam. It can point out the red flags for you.

Try this
  1. Stop and breathe. Do not click any links yet.
  2. Look at the sender's real email address, not just the name.
  3. Notice if it rushes you or asks for private details.
  4. Paste the email text into ChatGPT and ask if it seems like a scam.
  5. If unsure, contact the company yourself using their real website.
A message you can copy

I got this email and I am not sure if it is a scam. Please tell me the warning signs to watch for: [paste the email text here]

Paste it into ChatGPT, then change the words in brackets to fit you. It opens in a new tab, so you will not lose this page.

When an email rushes you or scares you, that itself is a warning sign.
