The short version
- The lessons are free and you can read them without an account.
- If you create a free account, we store your name, email, and which lessons you’ve completed, so we can save your progress.
- We send only essential emails (verify your address, reset your password). No spam.
- We never sell or rent your personal information.
- You can delete your account and data at any time.
What we collect
Account information. When you register, we store your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never see or store your actual password).
Learning progress. Which lessons you’ve marked complete and saved, so we can show your progress and pick up where you left off.
Basic technical data. Standard server logs and aggregate, privacy-respecting usage analytics to keep the site working and improve it. We don’t use advertising trackers.
Cookies
When you log in we set a single secure session cookie so you stay signed in. That’s it. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you decline cookies, you can still read every lesson without logging in.
How we use your information
- To provide the service and save your learning progress.
- To send essential account emails (verification, password reset) via our email provider, Resend.
- To keep the site secure (e.g., checking new passwords against known data-breach lists) and to improve the lessons.
If we ever add an optional newsletter, it will be strictly opt-in, and every message will have a one-click unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent your data. We share it only with the trusted service providers that run the site on our behalf, our hosting (Vercel), database (Neon), and email delivery (Resend), and only as needed to operate the service. We may disclose information if required by law.
Your choices & rights
You can view, correct, export, or delete your account and associated data at any time. Just email us. Deleting your account removes your personal information and progress from our active systems.
Data retention & security
We keep your data while your account is active. Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, and access is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and minimize what we hold.
Children
Mayfield Learning is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we update this policy, we’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let registered users know.
