How do I plan for one big purchase?
Work out how long a purchase goal may take.
Use the full expected cost, including fees and needed extras. Subtract money already set aside for the purchase. Keep your basic bills covered.
ChatGPT can show a sample plan. A $250 goal with $70 saved leaves $180. At $25 a week, seven weeks gives $175. You need eight weeks to reach the goal.
Check the math and what you can afford. Prices and income can change. Adjust the timing or goal if needed.
- Paste the sample below.
- Check the $180 gap and the need for eight weeks.
- Use a current full price for your own goal.
- Review the saving amount against your budget before starting.
Sample goal $250; already saved $70; saving $25 each week. Ignore interest. Show the gap and the first whole week when I reach the goal. Check whether seven weeks is enough.
Paste the message into ChatGPT, then fill in any blanks before you send it. ChatGPT opens in a new tab. Opening it does not send the message.

A saving plan is a guide. Missing a week is a reason to update it, not give up.
