Someone called asking for money. Is this a scam?
You will learn how to stay calm when a strange call asks for money.
A call asking for money fast is almost always a scam. Real people do not work this way.
Scammers may pretend to be family, the bank, or the government. They sound urgent and scary.
They may ask for gift cards or a wire. That is a big warning sign.
You can hang up. That is always okay. You do not owe anyone an answer.
Try this
- Stay calm. Do not let them rush you.
- Do not give any card, bank, or gift card details.
- Hang up the phone. You are allowed to do this.
- Look up the real number for the person or company.
- Call that real number yourself to check the story.

Buddy says
No real bank or agency asks for gift cards. For money matters, always check with your real bank in person or call their official number.
