Check the result

Clear words can still be wrong.

You can use the sample in this lesson. No earlier ChatGPT reply is needed.

Compare the reply with the original message and the facts you have.

The taskDoes it do what I asked?

The factsDo the day, time and place match my source?

The meaningDid a request, limit or condition change?

Use a short note or list for practice. For important health, money or legal decisions, ask a qualified person. For account trouble, use the service’s own support.

A confident reply is still something to check.

The easiest check

Watch for facts ChatGPT added on its own.

Sometimes ChatGPT adds a small detail that sounds fine but is not true. A made-up time. A made-up rule.

So read the answer slowly. Point to each fact: names, dates, times, places, and amounts.

If you cannot confirm a fact, leave it out or use a blank. For an event time, check with its organizer. Asking the same AI again is not independent proof.

Buddy says

Do not trust a fact just because it reads smoothly. Smooth and true are not the same thing.

Starting example

write a club reminder

Example message

Write a short book club reminder. Facts: Tuesday at 10 a.m., front desk. Use only these facts.

An example AI reply

Meet at the front desk on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Bring your library card.

The day, time and place match the given facts. The library-card rule was not given. Remove it. If you want to include such a rule, check with the club first. The AI cannot confirm it from this prompt.

Your turn, no wrong answers

Make a check note.

Read the sample reminder above. Write which line you would remove and where you would check the rule. This is your own check note. It stays in the practice box; it is not sent to ChatGPT.

Your practice box, just for you. Your draft saves in this browser. This box is not AI. Leave private details out.

Look for a detail in the reply that was not in the source facts.

Start with a few words, or look at the example first.
