On most phones and computers
  1. Find your web browser or search app.
  2. Look for a round, colorful icon, or one that says Search.
  3. Tap or click it to open it.
  4. Find the wide box where you can type.
  5. It is usually near the top of the screen.
  6. On some phones it sits near the bottom.
  7. Tap or click inside that box.
  8. Type your question in normal, everyday words.
  9. For example, type how do I boil an egg.
  10. On a phone, tap Search, Go, or the magnifying glass.
  11. On a computer, press the Enter key.
  12. A list of results will appear below.
  13. Tap or click any result that looks helpful.
  14. Read it to find your answer.
  15. If nothing helps, check your spelling or use fewer words.
  16. Then send your question again.

Buddy’s tip

The first one or two results may say Sponsored or Ad. Those are paid spots trying to sell something. They are not dangerous. You can just skip past them. Pick a normal result a little lower down.

Ask like you talk. The web will try to help.
