A forgotten password is very common and easy to fix. Nothing is broken. Let us walk through it together, slow and calm.

On most phones and computers
  1. Go to the sign-in page where you usually log in.
  2. Look near the password box for a small link.
  3. It often says 'Forgot password' or 'Trouble signing in?'.
  4. Tap or click that link. Any of those words is fine.
  5. Type the email, phone number, or username for this account.
  6. If you are not sure, type the email first. Take your time.
  7. Press the button to send the reset.
  8. It may say 'Send', 'Continue', or 'Reset'.
  9. The website will now send you a link or a short code.
  10. It may come by email or by text. Wait a few minutes.
  11. Open your email or your text messages.
  12. Find the new message and open it.
  13. Open it only because you just asked for it.
  14. Tap the link in the message, or type in the short code.
  15. Never read this code to anyone who phones or messages you.
  16. Real companies will not ask you for it.
  17. When asked, type a new password you can remember.
  18. The website will usually ask you to type it again to match.
  19. It often will not let you reuse your old one.
  20. Now keep your new password safe.
  21. The easy way is to write it on paper. Keep the paper somewhere private.
  22. If your phone or browser offers to save it, you can say yes.

Buddy’s tip

No link or code after a few minutes? Check your spam or junk folder. Also check your text messages. It often hides in one of those.

Forgetting a password is normal. The 'Forgot password' link gets you back in. Never share a reset code with anyone who contacts you.
