Why did ChatGPT give me a fact that was clearly wrong?

You will learn why ChatGPT makes mistakes and how to catch them in time.

First, you did nothing wrong. ChatGPT can sound very sure and still be wrong.

It does not really know things the way a person does. It guesses the next words that seem to fit.

Most of the time it is helpful. But sometimes it mixes up a fact, a step, or an amount.

So treat it like a smart helper, not a final answer. Double-check anything that really matters.

Try this
  1. Read the answer once, slowly.
  2. Ask yourself, does this matter a lot? If yes, check it.
  3. Ask ChatGPT, are you sure? Can you double-check that?
  4. For big things, confirm with a trusted website or a person.

I want to make sure this is right. Please double-check your answer about [your topic] and tell me if anything might be wrong.

Paste it into ChatGPT, then change the words in brackets to fit you. It opens in a new tab, so you will not lose this page.

Buddy tip: It is always okay to ask ChatGPT to check its own answer.
