Staying safe

Is it safe to tell ChatGPT my real name?

You will know what is fine to share and what to keep private with AI.

You do not need to give ChatGPT your real name. It can help you just fine without it.

Some things are fine to share. Things like a topic you want to learn, or a question you have.

Other things are best kept private. Things like your address, your passwords, and your bank or card numbers.

A good rule is simple. If you would not say it to a stranger, do not type it here.

Try this
  1. Share the question or topic, not your private details.
  2. Use a made-up name if a name is needed at all.
  3. Never type passwords, card numbers, or your address.
