What does the price per unit label mean?
Use a shelf label to compare costs fairly.
The item price is what you pay for the pack. The unit price is the cost for one measure, such as 100 g. Check that both labels use the same measure.
Sample: a 400 g box costs $4, so it is $1 per 100 g. A 600 g box costs $5.40, or $0.90 per 100 g.
ChatGPT can show the math, but check it against the label. The lower unit price is useful only if the product, amount and sale terms suit you.
- Paste the sample into ChatGPT.
- Check each price divided by its number of 100 g units.
- Compare the same product type and any membership or multi-buy terms.
- Choose an amount you can afford and use.
