Can I trust the phone numbers ChatGPT gives me?
Get a phone number from a source you already trust before you call about money or an account.
Do not rely on a phone number just because ChatGPT gave it to you. It may be wrong or out of date. A wrong number can lead to a fake help desk.
For a bank, use its real app or the number on your card. For another firm, start with a receipt, statement or saved site you know is real.
- Name the service you need. Keep your account number and password out of chat.
- Find the contact in the firm's known app or records. Do not use a number from the suspect message.
- If you must search, check the actual site address. A paid search ad or top result is not proof.
- Start a fresh call to the number you checked. A name on caller ID can be faked.
- If an unexpected caller wants a sign-in code, stop. Use the service's own support route to check the request.
Help me plan how to find my bank's real support number. Do not supply a number or ask for my card details. Suggest sources I can check myself.

ChatGPT can help you prepare what to say. It should not be your only source for whom to call.
