Can I stop ChatGPT from learning from my chats?
Review the real data controls for your account. A message in a chat does not change them.
ChatGPT has data controls for use of chats to improve its AI. Use the real account settings. A request such as 'do not train on this' does not change them.
Open Settings and look for Data Controls. Read the choice about use of chats to improve models. Turn it off if that is what you want. Check that it was saved.
Rules can differ by plan or workspace. If the choice is missing or locked, use help in the signed-in service. Do not assume another plan has the same rules.
- Check the account and workspace you are in.
- Open the data controls. Read what the choice covers.
- Change the choice if you wish. Return to the screen and check it. A chat reply is not proof.
- Check saved chats, memory and files on their own. The model-use choice does not delete them. It is not proof that past use was undone.
Explain three things in plain words: saved chats, memory, and use of chats to improve AI. Give one short example of each. Do not claim to inspect or change my account.
Paste the message into ChatGPT, then fill in any blanks before you send it. ChatGPT opens in a new tab. Opening it does not send the message.
Keep private facts out of practice, even after you change a data setting.
