Is the ChatGPT app on my phone the real one?
Trace the app back to the real service before you sign in.
A familiar icon, high rating or many downloads do not prove that an app is the official ChatGPT app. Copycat apps may look similar.
Start at chatgpt.com in your browser. If you want an app, follow the official download route from the service. Compare that store listing with the one you installed.
Check the publisher and support links, not just the name. A payment offer alone does not tell you whether an app is real; official services can have paid plans too.
- Open the known ChatGPT site yourself. Do not use a download link from a surprise message or ad.
- Find the official app link for your device and compare its store listing with your installed app.
- If you cannot confirm the match, do not sign in there. You can use the known website while you check.
- If you shared a password with a fake app, change it through the real account. Check reused passwords and any charges too.
Give me a short checklist for comparing an installed app with its official store listing. Do not ask for my password or call an app genuine based on ratings alone.
Paste the message into ChatGPT, then fill in any blanks before you send it. ChatGPT opens in a new tab. Opening it does not send the message.

Installing an app is optional for this practice. Do not install one just to complete the checklist.
