How do I tell which of two prices is really cheaper?
Use the same units to compare two prices.
A unit price is the cost for one unit, such as one kilogram or one item. Compare similar products using the same unit.
ChatGPT can show the math. Sample: 500 g for $2 costs $4 per kg. One kg for $3 costs $3 per kg.
The larger pack costs less per kg but more at checkout. Check whether you can afford, store and use it. A smaller pack may suit you better.
- Paste the sample into ChatGPT.
- Check that 500 g is half a kg.
- Use a calculator to check each cost per kg.
- Compare the same product type and any sale conditions before buying.
Sample prices: 500 g for $2 or 1 kg for $3. Show both costs per kg and both checkout prices. Do not assume that the larger pack is the right choice for me.

Count packs only when they contain the same amount. Check units on shelf labels.
