How do I clear my list of old ChatGPT chats?
Choose between hiding old chats and deleting them.
If you only want a tidy list, look for Archive. It hides a chat from the main list while keeping it available.
Delete is different. Treat it as final. It is not the right choice when you still need the chat.
Try this
- Save private copies of anything you need.
- For a tidy list, open a chat's menu and choose Archive if offered.
- To remove chats, open Settings and look for chat controls or Data controls.
- Read the exact action. Delete all affects more than one chat.
- Confirm only if the stated scope matches what you want.
- Check the list afterward. Memory and saved files may need their own review.
