Do I need a credit card to start ChatGPT?
Learn how to start with the free ChatGPT plan.
You can use the free ChatGPT plan without a credit card. Paid plans are optional.
A phone number is not generally required to create a ChatGPT account. The checks you see can vary with the way you sign in.
Start at chatgpt.com. If you see a paid offer, read it and keep the free plan if that is what you want.
Try this
- Type chatgpt.com in your browser address bar.
- Choose the free option when offered.
- If you have an account, use the same sign-in method as before.
- Skip paid checkout if you want free use.
- Try a short question with made-up details.
A message you can copy
Give me three easy lunch ideas with rice and beans.
Paste the message into ChatGPT, then fill in any blanks before you send it. ChatGPT opens in a new tab. Opening it does not send the message.
