What is a file on my computer or phone?
You will learn what a file is and the common kinds.
A file is one item your device keeps. It could be a photo, a letter, or a song. Each file has a name.
Files come in types. A photo might end in .jpg. A letter might end in .pdf. The ending tells you the kind.
Files live in folders, like papers in a drawer. You open a file to see what is inside.
A message you can copy
Please explain what a computer file is, in very simple words. Give me three everyday examples.
Paste the message into ChatGPT, then fill in any blanks before you send it. ChatGPT opens in a new tab. Opening it does not send the message.

The letters after the dot in a file name tell you what kind it is.
