To delete means to remove something. It could be a message, a photo, or a file.

Sometimes delete is forever. Other times the item waits in a "trash" or "bin" for a while.

Many phones and apps keep deleted things for a short time. So you often have a chance to get them back.

If you are unsure, go slow. You can always ask ChatGPT before you remove something.

Try this
  1. Before deleting, ask yourself if you may want it later.
  2. Look for a trash or bin icon.
  3. After deleting, check if a "recently deleted" folder exists.
  4. If you change your mind, look there to restore it.
A message you can copy

I want to delete a [photo] on my [phone], but I am scared it is gone forever. Can you explain in simple words what usually happens, and how I might get it back?

Paste it into ChatGPT, then change the words in brackets to fit you. It opens in a new tab, so you will not lose this page.

Many things you delete sit in a trash folder for a while first.
