How to stop ChatGPT in the middle of an answer
You will learn to press stop so ChatGPT quits typing right away.
For a normal text reply, a Stop button appears while ChatGPT writes. It often looks like a square.
Select Stop if you want to end that reply. The text already written may remain.
Stopping does not undo an action already taken by a tool or task. Check any task you had running.
Try this
- Find Stop while the reply is being written.
- Select it once.
- Read the part of the reply that remains.
- If useful, send a clearer follow-up ask.

An unfinished reply may leave out key steps. Do not treat it as a full set of instructions.
