It is usually fine to share your first name. That helps ChatGPT feel friendly.

But it is wise to keep some things private. Treat ChatGPT like a stranger who is helpful but new.

Do not type your full address, bank details, or passwords. Keep those for yourself.

A good rule is simple. If you would not say it to a stranger, do not type it here.

Try this
  1. Share only what you are comfortable with, like your first name.
  2. Leave out your address, money details, and passwords.
  3. If unsure, use words like 'my street' instead of the real name.

Keeping private details to yourself is smart, not silly. You are doing it right.
