How to scroll back up to reread what ChatGPT said
You will learn to move up and down a chat to find earlier answers.
In an open chat, earlier messages are above the newer ones.
Scroll toward the top to reread an earlier reply.
Scrolling only changes what you see. It does not bring back a deleted chat.
Try this
- On a phone, put a finger on the chat and swipe down to see earlier messages.
- On a computer, scroll toward the top with the mouse wheel or scroll bar.
- To return to newer messages, swipe up on the phone or scroll toward the bottom.

Long chats may take a moment to load older messages.
