Talking to AI well

Tell ChatGPT to focus on just one thing

You will learn to ask ChatGPT to stick to one thing and not ramble.

2 min read Always free

Sometimes ChatGPT wanders and brings up extra stuff. That can feel like too much.

You can keep it on track. Just say focus only on this one thing. It will leave the rest out.

This makes the answer shorter and clearer. You get help on the thing you actually asked about.

Try this
  1. Name the one thing you want help with.
  2. Add the line please focus only on this.
  3. Read the answer.
  4. If it drifts again, gently remind it to stay on topic.
A message you can copy

I only want help with [your topic]. Please focus only on that and skip anything else.

Paste it into ChatGPT, then change the words in brackets to fit you. It opens in a new tab, so you will not lose this page.
