Ask ChatGPT to act like an expert
You will learn to ask ChatGPT to play a role so its help feels more expert.
You can ask ChatGPT to pretend to be someone with a job. This is called giving it a role.
For example, you can say act like a kind teacher or act like a helpful guide. It will answer in that way.
A role helps the answer feel more focused. The words match the kind of help you want.
Try this
- Decide what kind of helper you want.
- Start your message with act like a, then the role.
- Add your question after that.
- Read the answer and adjust the role if needed.
A message you can copy
Act like a kind, patient teacher. Help me understand [your topic] in simple words.
Paste the message into ChatGPT, then fill in any blanks before you send it. ChatGPT opens in a new tab. Opening it does not send the message.
Buddy says
Keep the role simple, like a teacher or a guide. Plain roles work best.
