How to fix it when ChatGPT misunderstood you

You will learn to point out what it got wrong and ask for a better try.

ChatGPT gets things wrong sometimes. That is normal.

You do not have to start over. Just tell it what it missed.

Be gentle and clear. Say what was wrong, then say what you really meant.

Then ask it to try again. It will use your fix and do better.

Try this
  1. Notice the part that is off or not what you meant.
  2. Tell ChatGPT what it got wrong, in plain words.
  3. Say what you actually wanted instead.
  4. Ask it to try again with your correction.
A message you can copy

That is not quite what I meant. I actually wanted [say what you meant]. Can you please try again with that in mind?

Paste it into ChatGPT, then change the words in brackets to fit you. It opens in a new tab, so you will not lose this page.

You are not being rude. ChatGPT cannot feel hurt, so be as clear as you like.
