How to make ChatGPT forget something
You will learn how to tell ChatGPT to forget a saved detail.
You can ask ChatGPT to forget a detail, then check the Memory controls.
Turning memory off does not delete old chats.
To remove a fact fully, remove each place that holds it. Check memories, the memory summary, chats, files, and linked apps.
Try this
- Open Settings and find Personalization or Memory.
- Review the saved details and remove the one you no longer want used.
- Delete source chats or files too if they hold that detail. Review linked apps.
- Read each delete notice first. Some deletes cannot be undone.
A message you can copy
Please forget the saved detail I named. Tell me which memory controls I can check.
Paste the message into ChatGPT, then fill in any blanks before you send it. ChatGPT opens in a new tab. Opening it does not send the message.
