How to switch your account email if yours changed
You will learn to update ChatGPT to your new email so you can still log in.
Some accounts can change their sign-in email on the ChatGPT website. The phone apps do not offer this change.
The change keeps the same account and its chats. Creating a new account is different and does not move old chats.
Work or school accounts may need help from an admin. If you used Google, Apple, or Microsoft, you may first need to add a password in Account settings.
Try this
- Sign in at chatgpt.com in a browser.
- Open Settings, then Account.
- Select your email if the change option is available.
- Enter the new address and complete the checks.
- After sign-out, return with the new email.
