How do I ask ChatGPT just one small thing at a time?
Break a large question into one useful part.
A small question is easier to check. You can keep the same chat open and ask a follow-up when ready.
Short wording does not always give a short reply. Say how much detail you want.
Try this
- Choose the one thing you need first.
- Give the few facts needed to answer that part.
- Ask for a brief reply.
- Read it and check whether it answered your question.
- Ask about the next part, or name what is still unclear.
A message you can copy
Help me with this one part of [task]: [question]. Give a short answer in plain words. Leave the other parts for later.
Paste the message into ChatGPT, then fill in any blanks before you send it. ChatGPT opens in a new tab. Opening it does not send the message.
Buddy says
You can write naturally. There is no special formula to learn.
