Talking to AI well

How to keep ChatGPT from using big fancy words

You will get ChatGPT to drop the fancy words and just talk normally.

2 min read Always free

Big words can make simple things feel hard. You can ask for plain talk.

Just tell ChatGPT to skip the fancy words. Ask for everyday language.

You can even ask it to explain like you are new to this. That is fine.

Plain words are not a lower level. They are just clearer for everyone.

Try this
  1. Ask your question like normal.
  2. Add a line asking for simple, everyday words.
  3. If a hard word slips in, ask what it means.
  4. Ask it to keep all future answers plain too.
A message you can copy

Please explain [your topic] in plain, everyday words. No jargon. Pretend you are talking to someone brand new to this.

Paste it into ChatGPT, then change the words in brackets to fit you. It opens in a new tab, so you will not lose this page.

If you hit a word you do not know, just ask, what does that mean in simple terms?
