How does the AI know so much?

It does seem amazing, doesn't it. The AI read a huge amount of text. Books, websites, and more.
From all that reading, it learned patterns in how we use words. It did not memorize a giant fact list.
So it is not looking facts up like a library. It is guessing answers from patterns. That is why it can be wrong sometimes.
