New tools can copy a voice from a short clip of someone talking. This is real, but it is also rare.

Scammers may use a fake voice to sound like family in trouble. They want you to act fast and send money.

The good news is simple. You can slow down and check. A fake voice cannot pass a private question only your real family knows.

Take a breath. Most calls you get are not fake. A little care keeps you safe.

Try this
  1. If a caller sounds upset and asks for money, pause.
  2. Hang up and call that person back on their real number.
  3. Ask a question only the real person would know.
  4. Agree on a secret word with your family for emergencies.
