A sign-in can fail for more than one reason. Read the message instead of guessing.

Check the email spelling and the sign-in method you used when you made the account.

If you used Google, Apple, or Microsoft, start with that same button. A password reset may not fit that method.

One step at a time

For an email-and-password account, start Forgot password on the real sign-in page.

Use a reset message for the request you started. That timing alone does not prove a message is real.

Do not share a reset link or code. If unsure, go back to the real site or OpenAI Support.

If you see a limit or a lock, avoid repeated attempts. Follow the notice. There is no one wait time that fixes every error.
