Understand the report's parts, then ask about your own result.
A result may show a value, a unit, and a range from that lab. Labs may use different units and ranges. Keep all these details together.
A result outside a range is not a diagnosis on its own. A result within it does not always mean all is well.
You can learn the general terms without uploading your report. Ask your care team how your result fits your history and other findings.
- Keep the full report for your care team.
- Note the test name, date, value, unit, and printed range.
- Mark what you want explained.
- Ask if you need follow-up and how soon.
- Check how to get an answer if no one contacts you.
