Does ChatGPT use or keep my photos?
Learn what happens to a photo you upload.
A photo may show faces, an address, or private papers. Check it first. Ask the people shown before sharing it.
Photos may be stored in Library. Deleting a chat does not delete a file saved there.
Check the data controls too. Removing a file from view does not erase it from all systems at once.
Try this
- Choose a photo with no private facts.
- Check that you may share it.
- Upload it only if needed.
- To remove it, check the chat and Library.
- Read the delete message and check Recently deleted if shown.
A message you can copy
What could I ask about a photo of a plain houseplant? Do not ask for private photos.
Paste the message into ChatGPT, then fill in any blanks before you send it. ChatGPT opens in a new tab. Opening it does not send the message.
Buddy says
If you shared the file with another app or person, check those copies too.
