Try a small choice with checkable facts

Step 1 of 6

Opening your saved place…

Choose a useful small task

A good result may be a next question.

You can try a small choice you care about or stay with the made-up example. You do not need to buy anything to practice.

Collect the option facts and your needs first. Give them to ChatGPT if you choose to try it, then compare the reply yourself.

The practice box keeps a draft in Mayfield. The separate ChatGPT button is optional. Reading a sample is not proof of a real trial.

Buddy says

Choose, wait or ask more. Each can be a useful next step.

From draft to decision

Check the whole result before you act.

Start with a task and two exact options. Give the source facts, your must-haves and any preferences that could change the choice.

Ask for a short comparison with gaps shown. Then check all important claims, including any that AI presents with confidence.

A possible fit is not an order to buy. Check current costs, terms and safety needs before choosing. Neither option may fit.

PrepareNames, needs, facts and a useful reply form.

CheckSource claims, math, missing needs and the proposed conclusion.

DecideChoose, compare another option or wait for more information.

If you try ChatGPT, check what you plan to share. Copy only your request, not the My check or Stage notes. If setup, a limit or payment stops you, use the written sample.

Record the stage honestly: request ready, reply checked or action taken. Those are different things.

A full fictional plan case

Use the person’s actual requirements.

Made-up provider records: A is $25 a month, 5 GB, unlimited texts and no fixed term; B is $20 a month, 2 GB, unlimited texts and a 12-month term. Both have no start fee, and all taxes and fees are included in these sample prices. Both meet the person’s checked coverage need in this case. The person needs at least 5 GB, no fixed term and a $30 monthly limit.

Example message

Compare these fictional records in three short lines. A: $25 a month, 5 GB, unlimited texts, no fixed term. B: $20 a month, 2 GB, unlimited texts, 12-month term. Both have no start fee, prices include all taxes and fees and both meet my checked coverage need in this sample. I need at least 5 GB, no fixed term and at most $30 a month. State the fit for these needs only.

An example AI reply

A: Meets the stated data, term, cost and coverage needs in this sample. B: Meets the cost and coverage needs, but fails the data and no-fixed-term needs. Sample fit: A fits the stated needs; recheck real provider details before any real signup.

The choice follows the supplied needs, not the cheapest price alone. No live provider was checked and no plan was bought. Different needs or terms could change the result.

The route matters too

Is saving money enough to choose a commute?

You are comparing bus and bike travel. You want to save money and get fresh air. The route, travel times, fare, bike access, weather and safety have not been checked. Choose an answer to see why, then continue. This is practice, not a grade.

Prepare the request or use the sample

Keep a heater choice open until its facts are checked.

Made-up case: you want to compare electric Heater A and Heater B for a small room. You want low running cost and a shutoff feature. Only these labels are known. Prepare a request for needed model facts and checks. You may use this sample without opening ChatGPT.

Your practice box, just for you. Your draft saves in this browser. This box is not AI. Leave private details out.

Do not describe a shutoff feature as proof of safe use. A manual and current recall check matter.

Start with a few words, or look at the example first.

ChatGPT opens in a new tab or window. Keep this lesson open so you can come back.
