Picking up the thread

Now give your post one last look.

You learned to share with care. This is the last look before your post goes out.

A post can show more than you meant. Read every line slowly, out loud.

You are hunting for private details. Private means facts a stranger should not have. Look for four kinds:

Names youyour full name, or a screen name that points to you

Reaches youa phone number or an email

Locates youa street, a town, or a pickup spot

Shows your moneya price plus where you live

Mark any line that has one of these. When in doubt, leave it out.

Skip the big stuff here. For money, health, legal, account, or safety choices, ask a real person you trust.

One more check

Check the photo, not just the words.

A photo can show your address even when the words do not.

People stare at the thing you are selling. They forget what is behind it.

Open one photo big and zoom in. To zoom in means to make it larger so you see small parts. Look at the edges and the back for:

A house numberon a door or a wall

A license plateon a car in the back

Mail or a labelwith your name on it

A screen or windowshowing a message or your street

If you cannot crop a detail out, pick a different photo. To crop means to trim off the edges.

A plain wall behind you is always safe.

A clear request

Scan this post for private details. Mark any part that could name me, reach me, or locate me. Do not add new details. Just list what to remove. Post: Old couch, $80. Come by after 6. Text me to set a time.

What the AI sends back

Here is what I would remove. "After 6" hints at when you are home. "Come by" suggests a pickup at your place. Everything else looks fine. The price and the offer to text are safe.

First clean your post yourself. Then paste only the safe text. ChatGPT is the helper here. You still make the call.

One careful catch

Check what ChatGPT slipped back in.

Sometimes ChatGPT adds a detail on its own. It may guess a name, a town, or a time to seem helpful.

A made-up detail can still sound real and cause harm.

Put your cleaned post and the ChatGPT reply side by side. Read them line by line.

Look for any name, place, time, or number you did not write.

Take out anything ChatGPT added. Keep only the words you chose.
