Try a repair on your own text

Step 1 of 6

Opening your saved place…

Your text or the sample

Use a small task with meaning you can check.

You can try a short note from your day, or use the complete sample here. Both are useful ways to practice.

Writing a repair in Mayfield does not send it to ChatGPT. A real trial includes sending a request and checking the new reply.

Buddy says

The sample is here whenever you need it.

Keep the original text

Name a change and a way to check it.

Tone is how a message sounds, such as warm or formal. For a tone change, check that the request, dates and meaning stay the same. For a fact change, use the source that supports it.

Review private details before sharing your own text. Copy only the repair request when you choose to try it in ChatGPT.

Not tried yetI have a repair request but no new reply.

Tried and checkedI can say which parts I compared with the source.

A complete tone example

The request stays the same.

Starting example

Hi, could you please return the garden tool sometime this week? Thank you.

The sample adds a warmer greeting and thanks. The request to return the tool this week stays the same.

Revised request

Make this note warmer and friendlier. Keep the request and timing. Add no new facts. Text: Hi, could you please return the garden tool sometime this week? Thank you.

An example AI reply

Hi, I hope you're doing well! Could you please return the garden tool sometime this week? Thanks so much.

The sample still asks for the garden tool this week. It adds no date or promise about when the person will return it. This is an example, not evidence that your own request was tried.

Optional real trial

Write a repair and your next check.

Use your own short text, or this made-up note: Thanks again for returning my folding chair, it really helped me out a lot. Ask for a shorter note that keeps the thanks and what was returned. Add what you will check. If you choose to try it in ChatGPT, copy only the request and review it before sending. Keep your result note separate. If sign-in or a limit stops you, use the example here.

Your practice box, just for you. Your draft saves in this browser. This box is not AI. Leave private details out.

You can leave the result as not tried yet. Do not claim that a new reply kept the meaning until you have compared it.

Start with a few words, or look at the example first.

ChatGPT opens in a new tab or window. Keep this lesson open so you can come back.
