Add a few true facts

Step 1 of 6

Opening your saved place…

One step at a time

Add facts that help with the task.

A small fact can help ChatGPT make a more useful draft. Say who a note is for, what happened, or how long you want it.

Share only what the task needs. A role such as a friend can replace a real name.

Do not assume ChatGPT knows the facts you need. State them, then check the reply.

WhoA friend who lent me a book.

WhatA short note to thank them.

One step at a time

Check what you are about to share.

Read the ask before sending. Remove private names, home addresses, account numbers, passwords, and codes.

A number is not always private. Two short lines is a useful size request. An account number is a secret to leave out.

Use a made-up task here if the real one needs private facts. For health, money, or legal choices, check with a qualified person or an official source.

See an example

Give the note a clear purpose.

Starting example

Write a note.

Add the reason for the note, length and privacy limit.

Revised request

Write a short thank-you note to a friend who lent me a book. Use two lines. Leave names out.

An example AI reply

Thank you for lending me your book. I enjoyed reading it and will bring it back soon.

The reply fits the request for two lines, but it adds a promise to return the book soon. Keep that line only if it is true.

Try it here

Add one or two useful facts.

Draft an ask here for a thank-you note. Say what the person did. Use a role instead of a name.

Your practice box, just for you. Your draft saves in this browser. This box is not AI. Leave private details out.

Use the sample task if you are stuck. Keep private details out.

Start with a few words, or look at the example first.

ChatGPT opens in a new tab or window. Keep this lesson open so you can come back.
