Let's start at the very beginning.

You've probably heard the word “AI” a lot lately. Today we'll meet it together, no tech know-how needed, and nothing to set up yet. Just read along.

By the end of this short lesson, you'll be able to say what AI is in one plain sentence. That's it. We go gently here.

The whole idea

AI is a helper you talk to by typing.

“AI” is short for artificial intelligence. But forget the big words, here's what it really means for you:

It's a free helper, on your phone or computer, that you talk to by typing. You ask a question in plain, everyday words, and it writes an answer back, in just a few seconds.

That's the whole thing. It's a bit like texting a very patient, very well-read friend who's always happy to help, any hour, and never gets tired of you asking.

And here's the kind part: you do not need to understand how it works to use it, just like you don't need to know how a car engine works to drive to the shop.
