Try one small question of your own

Step 1 of 6

Opening your saved place…

Put it to use

Choose one question that helps today.

Try a small task where you can check the answer. For example, compare what a club list asks you to bring with the supplies you have.

You can use your own task or the full sample below. If you cannot use ChatGPT right now, the sample is enough for this lesson.

Choose a task that feels useful to you.

Plan the check

Decide how you will know if it fits.

Write your question and the facts it needs. Remove private details before putting the text in ChatGPT or this practice box.

Ask for a short answer in the form you need. If you try ChatGPT, copy your ask there and send it yourself. Mayfield does not send it for you.

Compare the reply with the facts. Note anything changed, missing or added. If you have no reply yet, write “Not tried yet.”

Own try: use the reply you actually got.
Sample review: use the reply shown in this lesson.
Not tried yet: keep the ask and name what you will check.

A full sample to use

What do I still need to bring?

Made-up art club list: paper, two pencils and a ruler. You already have the paper.

Example message

The art club list is paper, two pencils and a ruler. I already have the paper. What do I still need? Give only the missing items as a short list.

An example AI reply

- Two pencils - A ruler

The reply leaves out the paper you already have. It keeps the two-pencil count and the ruler, with no extra items. That is the check for this sample.

Try or review

Keep a note of your actual check.

Use the supplied art club sample, or try a small question of your own in ChatGPT. Write “Sample review,” “Own try,” or “Not tried yet.” Then name the facts you checked, any problem you found, and your next step. Leave out private details.

Your practice box, just for you. Your draft saves in this browser. This box is not AI. Leave private details out.

For the sample, check the paper, pencil count and ruler. For your own try, use the reply you actually received.

Start with a few words, or look at the example first.
