Picking up where you left off

You saved a prompt. Now let's make it clearer.

Last time you saved a prompt that worked. A prompt is just the message you type to ChatGPT. Today you add a few facts so it works again next time.

A saved prompt is easiest to reuse when it does one clear job. So start there.

Pick one saved prompt. Then ask yourself one thing. What job should this do next time? Write that job in one short line.

Your saved prompt“Write a friendly text about dinner.”

The one job“Write a short, friendly dinner text.”

Leave private details out of that job line. No names, no dates, no places, no account numbers. Keep it plain enough to use again next week.

The safe few facts

Add only the facts that help, and keep private ones out.

A few facts make the answer better. Too few, and it is vague, which means unclear. Too many, and the card is hard to reuse.

Pick up to three safe facts. Good ones are the tone, the length, who it is for, or the form. Form just means the shape, like a text or a list.

Now the safety part. Never save names, addresses, account numbers, or passwords. Never save private health or exact money details. If you would not want it pasted again, leave it out.

Turn any private or changing detail into a blank instead. A blank is a word in brackets, like [name], [place], or [day]. The blank holds the spot without saving anything private.

And one rule above all. ChatGPT is not the final word on health, money, legal, account, or safety choices. For those, ask a real person.

Check this saved prompt card for private or changing details. Replace safe changing ones with blanks. Tell me if anything should be removed instead of saved. Card: Write a warm 2-sentence text to [name] about dinner at [place] on [day].

What the AI sends back

Looks good. I turned the name, place, and day into blanks: [name], [place], [day]. None of these are private once they are blank, so the card is safe to save and reuse.

Same prompt, but now Sam, Green Cafe, and Thursday are blanks. The card still tells ChatGPT what to do, and it saves nothing private.
