Save an ask for next time

Step 1 of 6

Opening your saved place…

Keep something useful

You can reuse an ask.

A template is a draft with blanks you can fill in later. It saves you from starting with an empty page.

Use the sample here, even if you have not tried ChatGPT yet. You do not need to open ChatGPT for this lesson.

Buddy says

Save the shape of the ask. Keep private details out of it.

Make a template

Replace changing details with blanks.

Give the ask a title you will recognise. Use a blank such as [reason for thanks] where the facts change.

Remove private details yourself before you share an ask. Telling AI to hide a name does not undo sharing that name.

Keep the task and the style you want.
Use blanks for details you will change.
Fill only the blanks you need. Check each new reply before you use it.

A reusable ask

Keep the task. Leave a blank.

Starting example

Write a warm thank-you note for [reason for thanks]. Use two sentences. Do not add facts.

Fill the blank with a made-up task.

Revised request

Write a warm thank-you note for watering my plants. Use two sentences. Do not add facts.

An example AI reply

Thank you for watering my plants. I really appreciate your help!

This is a sample reply. Replace the blank each time you use the template. Asking for no added facts is a request, not a guarantee. Check each reply.

Your reusable ask

Write a template you can find again.

Give your template a short title, then write the ask below it. Use blanks for changing details. Watch the save status before you leave. You can return to this lesson from My learning and choose Try it to see your draft.

Your practice box, just for you. Your draft saves in this browser. This box is not AI. Leave private details out.

Signed in? Your draft saves to that Mayfield account. Signed out? It stays in this browser. Copy it into your own notes if you want a separate copy.

Start with a few words, or look at the example first.
