Prepare a message for your own task

Step 1 of 6

Opening your saved place…

Choose a small task

Use your own task or the made-up one.

You may want to thank someone or ask about a class. Choose a small task whose facts you can check.

You can use the complete sample here. Opening ChatGPT and trying your own request is optional. A draft in this lesson has not been sent to anyone.

Buddy says

The sample is here if you do not have a message in mind.

Prepare before sharing

Review the request and the place you will use it.

Name the reader, purpose and facts. Use labels such as [person] for private details. Review the whole text; changing one name does not hide the rest of a story.

Keep passwords, sign-in codes and account details out. You do not need to share them to learn this skill.

PrepareWrite the request here with only the needed facts.

Optional trialCopy just the request into ChatGPT and get a reply to check.

Before sendingCheck the words, recipient and any blanks in your own message app.

If ChatGPT is not available to you, keep using the sample. You do not need to choose a paid plan for this lesson.

Sending a request to ChatGPT is separate from sending the finished message to its reader. Only send that message when you choose to.

A sample you can compare

Ask the office without claiming the answer.

Made-up task: Ask the office staff whether art class still meets Tuesday morning. You do not yet know the answer.

Example message

Write one short message for the office staff. Ask whether art class still meets Tuesday morning. Use plain words and a warm tone. Add no other facts.

An example AI reply

Hello, I wanted to check whether the art class is still meeting on Tuesday morning. Thank you so much for your help!

The two sentences keep the schedule as a question. They do not invent a time, place or confirmed answer. This written sample does not show that you sent a request or received a live reply.

Your task or the sample

Prepare a request and note its status.

Made-up task: Ask the office whether craft group still meets Friday afternoon. Write a polite, short-message request, or use your own small task with private details removed. If you choose a live trial, copy only the request into ChatGPT. Then record what you checked. Otherwise write Not tried yet.

Your practice box, just for you. Your draft saves in this browser. This box is not AI. Leave private details out.

A sample reply is not your own trial result. Before sending a finished message, check the recipient, facts and blanks.

Start with a few words, or look at the example first.

ChatGPT opens in a new tab or window. Keep this lesson open so you can come back.
