Draft a small message

Say who will read it and what you mean.

Use a small task with facts you know. Say who the message is for, what it should say and how you want it to sound.

Tone means how the words sound, such as warm or formal. You can ask for plain words in either tone.

For practice, use made-up facts or general labels. Keep private details out of the request before sharing it.

Read the draft before using it. A clear request does not ensure a correct reply.

The thank-you keeps its purpose.

Made-up notes: A neighbor brought in your trash cans. You want to thank them with a short, warm note.

Ask for a short thank-you.

Made-up notes: A friend watered your plants while you were away. You want a warm thank-you in two sentences. Write the request here. Do not add dates or a promise of a gift.
