Check the list against your notes

Step 1 of 6

Check before using

A neat list can still be wrong.

Read the whole reply beside the notes you gave. Look at each item and count.

Asking ChatGPT to check its own reply may help you spot a gap. It does not prove the reply is right.

Buddy says

Your notes give you a clear place to start checking.

Three things to compare

Look for a gap, a change or an extra.

Check whether every needed item is there. Check each count. Then look for items your notes did not ask for.

If an item is already at home, it should stay off a list of things to buy. If a needed fact is unclear, check it before using the list.

MissingAn item from the notes is absent.

ChangedThe list says one when the notes say two.

ExtraThe list adds something you did not request.

A sample with mistakes

Two parts of this list need a fix.

Made-up shopping notes: Buy two apples and a loaf of bread. You already have beans.

Example message

Make a grocery checklist from these notes: I need two apples and a loaf of bread. I already have beans. List only what I need to buy. Keep the counts and add no other items.

An example AI reply

- One apple - A loaf of bread - A can of beans

This sample is wrong. Change one apple to two, and remove beans. Keep the bread. Compare the full list with the notes again after a fix.

Make your own check

Write the changes this list needs.

Made-up notes: Buy three onions and one can of peas. Sample reply: Two onions, one can of peas and pasta. Write what to change and what to keep. Do the check yourself from these notes.

Compare the onion count, then look for an added item.

Start with a few words, or look at the example first.
