Give a useful starting point

Say what you know and what is still unclear.

You do not need to call yourself brand new if you already know part of the topic. Say which part you know and which part you want help with.

A small example of your work can show the gap better than a label such as beginner. Choose what you share and leave out private records.

ChatGPT may still pitch the answer too high or too low. You can ask to slow down, skip a part you know or try a different source.

Show the step from what you know to what you need.

Name the goal, give a true starting point and point to a gap. Add the pace or form that would help with that gap.

If you are unsure whether a fact you know is right, say so. Do not ask AI to treat a guess as a fact.

Keep needed sample numbers. Removing all numbers would make a number lesson hard to teach. Made-up examples can avoid sharing your own records.

Build from a known step

The reply starts with the sum the learner knows. It asks a new question without answering it. Try first, then check: six plus six plus six is eighteen, so each of the three groups has six.

Which note gives the tutor useful context?

You can read times such as 9:10 and 9:45, but you get stuck finding the number of minutes between them. Choose an answer to see why, then continue. This is practice, not a grade.

Make the gap visible

Write a note about a learning gap.

Sample: you can count ten minutes from 9:10 to 9:20. You get stuck when the time crosses into the next hour, such as 9:50 to 10:15. Ask for help from that starting point.
