Start with where it will go

A picture may go in a web card, a frame or a print page. Look at that space first.

Wide, square and tall are useful shapes. They are not the only choices, and one shape does not fit every card or phone.

Shape and size are different

A 3:2 shape means three units across for every two units high. Our files are 1536 by 1024 pixels. Pixels are the small dots that make the picture.

Ask for the shape you need. ChatGPT also has an aspect ratio control for changing shape. It may create a new result, so check the picture again.

A wide file is not proof that it fits every wide space. Try it in the actual place. Check for cut-off objects, stretch, blur and room for any text. For print, check the file at the planned print size.
